Takiyah Worthy

Takiyah Worthy is a native of Chicago, Illinois, and a proud alumnus of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), Tallahassee, Florida, where she earned a B.S. in Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics. In January 2006, Takiyah moved to Washington, D.C., and joined HUD’s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH) in September of that same year. In the six years Takiyah worked with OLHCHH, she had the opportunity to contribute to the office in multiple ways, which include but are not limited to Technical Assistance Specialist overseeing a portfolio of lead and healthy homes grants and associated funding opportunities; an Enforcement Analyst working in partnership with program counsel and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to enforce the Lead Disclosure Rule. In addition to the aforementioned, Takiyah was appointed to various inter- and intra-agency task forces and acted in various leadership roles.

In February 2012, Takiyah bade farewell to her OLHCHH family to accept a position as the Deputy Director in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Management Staff Division, where she and her team supported OCFO with all their personnel, budget, and logistics needs. In June 2014, Takiyah joined the Office of Field Policy and Management where she worked as a Desk Officer supporting the place-based work (e.g., Promise Zones, Community Needs Assessments, Mayors Challenge, and ConnectHome) of regions II, V and VII.

Takiyah joined the Office of Technical Assistance (OTA) (formerly the Technical Assistance Division in CPD) in December 2016 as a Supervisory Team Lead and Government Technical Representative (GTR), where she led the development of multiple Community Compass NOFOs, managed a team of dynamite GTRs, and drafted and implemented various policies to improve the HUD TA business operations. Takiyah has also served in the role of Deputy Director for OTA and is currently the Director of OTA’s Award Management Division.

When she is not doing the business of HUD, you can find Takiyah spending time with family and friends, especially her son Naafi, affectionately known as her “fave human,” traveling, and volunteering within her community.
