The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Terner Labs are hosting the first symposium of a new Housing Technology Series – The Search for Affordable Housing. This event will focus on how technology is changing the landscape of how prospective renters find and access rental housing. The symposium will feature panel discussions on:

  1. Affordable Housing - Centered on the search process for subsidized housing and the innovations that are making it easier for low-income households to find the homes they need
  2. Market Rate Housing - Centered on how technology helps (and can sometimes be a barrier in) the search and entry process for rental housing and what can be done to support lower-income households

About the Housing Technology Series:

In this series, announced by HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge at the Innovative Housing Showcase in June, HUD and Tern Labs are bringing together panelists in the public sector, housing experts, technologists, entrepreneurs, and more to explore technological advances at the forefront of the housing industry. Each symposium will highlight emerging technological innovations and the opportunities they present to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all. The series will also identify the challenges that new technologies present and ways that public- and private-sector leaders can work together to accelerate progress and mitigate risks.
